Recently I read this article about how long working on a computer can cause skin aging. My first reaction was "seriously now". Are new catastrophes revealed and how acute is the topic? What is HEV radiation at all and why are scientists working under high pressure to investigate the effect of HEV light on our skin? These studies sound the alarm.
Because the blue light emitted by modern screens damages our skin. How can this be explained in a comprehensible way?
We all know the known UV radiation (ultraviolet radiation) which is invisible to the human eye, but can still demonstrably damage our skin. Light is to be understood as part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The length of the waves determines how energetic and penetrating they are.
High-energy short-wave UVB rays cause sunburn. The slightly longer UVA rays can penetrate deeper into the skin. UVA light promotes oxidative stress, causes cell damage and thus promotes premature skin aging.
HEV is the abbreviation for High Energy Visible. It lies on the wavelength directly next to the UV radiation. It penetrates even deeper into the skin layers than UVA light and is associated with the increasing formation of pigment spots and wrinkles in early years. The formation of collagen and elastin, which keep our skin firm and toned is also interrupted.
The question now is how can I protect my skin? Honestly, I can reduce my time on my mobile phone. But the working time I have on the computer goes too far.
I immediately started looking for active ingredients and products to keep this HEV radiation away from my skin. Fortunately, I didn't have to look far. At Coola I found the Sun Silk Drops which offer a 360° full spectrum light protection. So besides UVB, UVA also IR (infrared) and HEV (High Energy Visible) offer protection.
An advantage is that this serum is very compatible and my skin accepts it very well. That's why I wear it now while I write this blog post ;).
Basically all creams, oils and serums contain ingredients that have a strong antioxidant effect. Vitamins and trace elements that help the skin to protect itself by neutralizing the free radicals and delaying the premature aging of the skin.
